ARTIST BIO.

 John Carl Martin [J] was born in Barbados in 1971. At an early age he discovered a passion for art and fashion. In 1989 this young designer left his hometown in Barbados for New York City to pursue a career in those passions. While working as a fashion designer in the Big Apple, creating one-of-a-kind pieces for his dedicated clientele, he discovered the art technique of airbrushing. By 1994, just two years after teaching himself to use the airbrush he announced his move to Los Angeles where he launched the first JMartin Designs Store. Within his 12 years of managing a successful business, JMartin created numerous pieces of art for the elite of Hollywood, major film, music-videos, tv and professional sports, his work has also been featured in print and sold world wide, JMartin’s art style is iconic to the 80’s and 90’s hip-hop fashion era. John Carl Martin has co-authored and co-illustrated a series of children books with his daughter Destiny J. Martin, he currently resides in Los Angeles where he uses his art to market and promote his children books, he produces commissioned artwork for various clients and works with “At Risk” teens teaching them creative skills and his formula for success in the art business.
